PJ- saw your commento about Catullus at Berube's- I think the kids just like a taste of the old school incivility. It is perhaps the nautiest collection of verse that we have. The majority of Latin filth we know is from graffiti, Catullus and Martial. They had their own prudishness about writing it down. They had rich traditions of very baroque obscenity but they were too couth to spell it all out, usually.
